My Inspiration and Motivation For What I Do
From before I can remember, animals have been my biggest passion. This passion drove me to begin my career in the animal care and behavior industry 10 years ago. I started out at a shelter in Colorado called the Longmont Humane Society where I worked as an animal care attendant and a training and behavior specialist. From there, I moved on to a shelter in Denver called the Denver Dumb Friends League to work as an animal behaviorist for a year. After that, I moved to San Diego where I continued to work freelance as a personal dog trainer and eventually began a career as an animal control officer three years ago. My job as an animal control officer is where I was able to really put my knowledge of and experience with animals to work to help the public with various behavior issues, legal issues, and investigation of cruelty and neglect. It was during my years as a an officer that I decided to complete a comprehensive course to get my dog training certification. My time in animal law enforcement is my inspiration for taking my talents into pet education and training. I began to develop Natterstad Pet Training, to be able to help people with ALL their pets, not just dogs, but cats, small animals, and Exotics as well. I am excited to work with each and every one of you to help address all of your animal training and behavior needs.
For Any and All Pets
Whether you have a dog, cat, bird, tortoise, fish, etc., I can train it! I have a background of successfully training a variety of pets. The specialty of my approach is being able to provide training that is pet-centered so that your pet can be successfully taught the specific skills it needs. This also allows each client/pet owner to receive the full benefit of hiring a trainer. There is no one size fits all approach to training any animal because they are all so different, even within the same breed. This recognition is what helps my training particularly useful.
